Maru wins Gippsland Business Awards - August 2011 |
|
On Friday the 26th of August 2011, a Gala night was held at the Monash University Gippsland Campus in Churchill, to announce the winners of the Bendigo Bank 2011 Gippsland Business Awards. The Bass Coast region was well represented, with Maru Koala and Animal Park being one of many finalists from our region.
We were honored to be announced as winners in both categories that we entered:
- Tourism – this award was sponsored by Destination Gippsland
- Good Access is Good Business – this award was sponsored by Gippsland Rural Access
Like most small businesses, time is one of our most precious and limited commodities and it takes dedication to commit to submitting any award entry. The process is however invaluable as it necessitates clearly analyzing your business and ensuring that a sound business plan and strategy is in place and being continually reviewed.
Having won two awards each at both the recent Superpages Bass Coast Shire Council awards and now the Gippsland Business Awards, is recognition of the professional and renowned Tourist Attraction that Maru has evolved into. The awards are testament to the thirty years of history that the Heffer family has in Grantville and the enthusiastic and friendly team of staff and volunteers at Maru.
Maru is now known regionally as a wildlife park where visitors can pat a koala and experience close encounters with a range of animals. With the recent opening of the new kitchen and dining area the business can only continue to develop and support further growth of Grantville and our region.
