At Maru we run several different programs in our animal park to cater for everyone’s needs. Some of our programs are listed below, with more on our ‘packages’ page. We welcome your enquires and endeavor to design a program or tour to suit your individual needs.

Zoo Keeper For a Day

Go behind the scenes as you assist and learn from one of our Animal Park keepers about what is involved in the feeding, cleaning and handling of our animals. Enjoy special ‘hands on’ interaction with some of the animals and learn about our Wildlife Shelter. Morning tea, lunch and drink is included, and receive at the end of the day both a photo of you with one of the animals and certificate commemorating your experience. Enquire for further details. Bookings are essential.

Twilight Tours

Operating by booking only during the January school holiday period, there tours usually take place on a Friday and/or Saturday night. Observe the nocturnal behaviours of our animals many of which are most active at dusk. A fully guided 45-minute tour of all of the park animals, includes nibbles and beer, wine or soft drink. Tours start at 8:30pm and bookings are essential.

Volunteering at Maru

We welcome work experience students and other keen volunteers at Maru. Volunteering with us will provide you with the opportunity to assist in the care of our animals as you learn about their welfare and habitat. Please contact us with your enquiries and to register your interest in volunteering.
